Classification of butterfly valves by working mode
Butterfly valves can be classified into four main types based on their working methods, including manual butterfly valves (including turbine butterfly valves), pneumatic butterfly valves, electric butterfly valves, and hydraulic butterfly valves.
1. Manual butterfly valve: Manual butterfly valves are controlled by manually operating the switch. It is usually equipped with a manual operating lever or (turbine actuator) handwheel, which can manually rotate the valve disc or open or close the butterfly valve by manually rotating the handwheel of the turbine actuator to change the on/off and flow rate of the fluid. Manual butterfly valves have a simple structure and low cost, and are widely used for fluid control under general working conditions.
2. Pneumatic butterfly valve: Pneumatic butterfly valves are controlled on and off through pneumatic devices (pneumatic actuators). When the pneumatic device receives a control signal, it transmits air pressure to push the piston rod or gear, thereby rotating the valve disc. Pneumatic butterfly valves have the characteristics of fast response and high degree of automation, and are widely used in automation control systems. Butterfly valve pneumatic actuators are also divided into single acting and double acting, and the selection should be based on the actual working conditions and the correct choice.
3. Electric butterfly valve: The electric butterfly valve is controlled by an electric motor (butterfly valve electric actuator) to achieve switch control. Electric butterfly valves are usually equipped with electric actuators, which can rotate or linearly move the valve disc to achieve fluid on/off and regulation. Electric butterfly valves are suitable for applications that require remote control and regulation. Widely used in the regulation or control pipelines of automated production in industrial and mining enterprises.
