Flow delay method
I am looking for a method about delay device in fluid system, the fluid is incompressible. I have oscillatory flow and this flow will be divided to two flow by Y joint, I want to have a delay for one of this pipes, I thought that we can put a chamber for delay but I realized that after filling by liquid probably we do not have any delay, actually I am looking for simple and cheap method, If you have any idea please guide me.
Unless you're a magician, a shutoff valve, spring loaded check valve, diverter, or diverter to a tank or other volumetric accumulator is about all the tools you'll have at your disposal. The delay with a spring loaded check would be limited by the time taken to reach the spring's balance pressure, which in itself may create additional oscillatory flow problems. The only delay possible with a tank-accumulator is limited by your flowrate into the available tank volume. When that volume is filled, you need to dispose of it, perhaps divert it around your "Y", or go back to no delay.
You have oscillating flow due to a piston or plunger pump? Then the only way to get a delayed flow is the spring-loaded valve as recommended by BigInch. That will cause a delay at start-up unless the spring is that strong that you will have zero flow through that pipe. Why not use a electrically or pneumatically driven shut-off valve that will be opened at the time you need the flow in this line.
