DOT Rule 54, fire Test Requirements for Mains

2010-11-18

DOT Rule 54 has been replaced by another standard, our certificate is out of date and Lloyds have stated they don't regonise it!, even though they issued our original certificate.
I have checked the US Code of Federal Regulations Department of Transportation (DOT); there is no "Rule 54".  I have also looked in IHS Specs and Standards and did not find anything.
Do you have any additional information?  It would be helpful to have the exact title of the standard you're looking for and the country of origin.
DOT Rule 54 is a standard for Fire Testing of Soft Seated Butterfly Valves, we have certificates covering the test but they themselves contain no data pertaining to the original standard, I ahve managed to determine that they relate to 'MCA = Marine & Coastguard Agency. MCA are part of the DfT, Department for Transport'
To date this is all I can determine, I think this must have been superceeded by another but lots of valve companies make reference to this approval in thier prodcut catalogues etc.
