Does a stock 2002 Harley Sportster 1200 have a CV carb?
I am looking at putting a kuryakyn air scoop on my harley because I absolutely love the look of butterfly valves, and the one I found on eBay says the following regarding fitment:
The Pro-Series Hypercharger fits Stock or 44mm C.V. style carbs, & can be easily adapted to Mikuni HSR42/45/48 & S&S Shortys with adapters, sold separately.
So I just want to make sure this will fit my bike. I will admit I am
ashamed I do not know what my carb is… I know the ins and outs of chevy
small-blocks, but wouldn’t know where to start on a motorcycle carb.
Also, there is one for sale used from a 2001 Softail… Would that likely fit?
Thank you for the responses. My Harley has cycle shack slip-ons but
otherwise is stock, and I’m not worried too much about power, I just
cruise and commute with it, and want it to look cool. My brother’s
truck has a butterfly scoop on it and the butterfly valves visual effect is amazing… So
I’m looking to put that on my bike with this. So long as it doesn’t
reduce performance, I view this as a cosmetic upgrade, well worth it.
If I wanted speed/power I would let my friend trade his ‘busa for my
Sporty. But that’s not my style, I prefer “slow chrome” to “fast
plastic”.
The stock carb on the bike you quoted has a 40mm CV (constant velocity) carb on it. Surely there is a hypercharger that will fit the 40… You probably already have, but if you haven’t, check out J&P cycles, perhaps the Kuryakyn web site, and Eastern Performance Cycle…Ride Safe.
