A wafer butterfly valve
A wafer butterfly valve is a valve which is used for regulating or isolating flow; the closing mechanism of a wafer butterfly valve takes the form of a disk shape and the operation of which is very similar to a ball valve, which allow for quick shut off. Wafer butterfly valves are favored because they cost less to other types of valves and they have the added bonus of being lighter in weight, meaning less support is required. The wafer butterfly valve gets positioned in the centre of the pipe. Rotating the butterfly valve actuator turns the disk either parallel or perpendicular to the flow. Unlike a ball valve the disk always present in the flow therefore the pressure drop is always indicated regardless of the valve’s position.
