a butterfly valve
2012-08-17
A butterfly valve consists of a metal disc within the main section of the valve itself and this is placed to be in an upright position to the flow when it is closed. When the valve is opened, the disc rotates for a quarter turn and becomes parallel to the flow allowing the liquid to pass through it. Specific flow regulation is achieved by the use of further rotations to the disc, and this makes the precise nature of butterfly valves particularly advantageous for various industrial usages.
